Barastoc Calm Performer

A cool performance pellet that is low in glycaemic index and starch, suitable for feeding ponies and horses in maintenance, to a low to moderate workload. Being lower in starch and glycaemic index, the carbohydrates in the pellet are broken down slowly in the horse’s digestive tract, releasing glucose into the bloodstream at a much slower rate. Horses maintained on a low glycaemic diet have more controlled spikes in blood glucose after eating a meal, this longer- term blood glucose control and a reduction in blood lipids means more balanced energy levels throughout the day. Without the spikes in insulin that is required for the glucose in blood to be stored as glycogen, a more placid temperament is encouraged without the fizzy behaviour.
